Moving Walkways

BACKGROUND

Upon opening Terminal C in September 2022, passengers were impressed with the new $2.8 billion terminal designed to welcome international guests. The expansive terminal, though, lacked moving walkways, part of the terminal’s original design. The walkways were removed as a cost-saving measure when the COVID-19 pandemic impacted construction projects at MCO and other airports. After receiving federal funds, airport staff revisited the original concept and installed moving walkways in two key areas of the Terminal C project to assist passengers with mobility.

TSA Checkpoint to Palm Court:

In May 2025, moving walkways opened just beyond the TSA security checkpoint to provide an express lane to Terminal C’s stunning Palm Court, which features Florida sunshine, and to more than 30 retail, food, and beverage options.

The moving walkways have a length of 132 feet - including the on and off sloped ramps that meet American with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements.

These walkways help assist those with limited mobility, as travelers exit the walkway adjacent to the staging area for mobility carts, which can carry passengers directly to their gate.

Pedestrian Bridge:

Moving walkways are also included in the Pedestrian Bridge. In October 2025, a set of bidirectional moving walkways, including ramps, were opened with the bridge. Approximately 90 feet in length, the bridge walkways will be extended once the Rental Car Lobby opens in 2026. As part of this program, a third set of moving walkways will be installed in the existing GTF Bridge.

GOAA staff members are undertaking several studies to determine optimal locations for additional moving walkways in Terminal C as a way to enhance the passenger experience.
